One of the best things that I remember from my childhood is my mom’s passion for yoga. Often I would join her on the mat and try to copy her poses. I could walk on my knees, put my legs behind my neck and stand on my head. Not so much anymore….. 🙂 — but I have always wanted to start yoga and get into the yoga groove. My problem is, I really don’t enjoy big, filled-to-the-brim yoga studios. I like to be in my own space, I like the peace, and I like to enjoy yoga when it fits into my schedule.
That is why I was so happy when I found Myyogaonline and Doyogawithme.
Two fabulous programs, videos of different lengths, different levels, different styles, different teachers – you pick and choose what fits you best.
I absolutely love it!
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. Rumi
There are so many benefits to doing yoga. It’s quite amazing what happens in just a few moments of deep breathing, slowly moving the body into poses, simply being on the floor reduces stress and before you know it, you feel more relaxed!
P.S Please listen to your body and don’t do too much – let your body be your guide!
Here are some great articles about the benefits of yoga:
One from Harvard University on how yoga helps reduce stress and anxiety.
Another by Science Daily, an interesting study shows that yoga reduces stress and anxiety among prisoners and has a positive effect on impulsive behaviour.
And a third by the Yoga Journal about the overall health benefits
On a finishing note – I am moving my blog to be self-hosted – this means my blog might be down for a day or so – Looking forward to seeing you over there 🙂
I haven’t practiced regularly, but I love yoga, too. You shared some great resources. I may have a better chance to practice more often now. Thank you! And good luck with your blog transfer!!
Thank you friend – I hope you will enjoy it!
Thank you so much for the two links for yoga. I just bought a DVD because I haven’t been able to find a studio nearby with class times that fit into my schedule. I will be checking on these two links you have provided! Thanks again!
Thank you Angeline, you are welcome!
It works so well for me – I can do yoga whenever it fits my schedule!
I also prefer to practice on my own. No jostling for space, no worrying that I look silly. No pressure to attempt a pose beyond my skills – and best of all, the quiet I need to just be in that little bit of time devoted to yoga.
PS I’ll be moving to a self-hosted site soon myself! Hope everything goes smoothly for you!
Yes exactly Annie – that’s it!
Good luck with the move hope it goes smoothly and beautifully for you! – I’m still holding my breath, mine will be ready to launch soon 🙂

Thank you!
What a lovely peaceful photo, Anne 🙂 Perfect with your yoga theme.
Thank you Marianne – it was such a peaceful morning! One beautiful early morning on the West Coast of British Columbia 🙂
Wow, thank you Anne :). I have two yoga manuals at home and a few cd’s. I have my own confession to make. Like you, I hate group work and mass studios so a few years ago I paid (not a small sum of money) to have individual yoga tutoring :D. It worked, though the progress was decided by me :D. The very night I tried it for the first time I could see the benefits of it. It made me aware of how much harm my usual shallow breathing is causing me, and when I woke up the following day I could not wait to start doing it by myself at home :). I am so happy for this post of yours and for the attached links. Bless you!
Hi dear Paula – thank you – you are so welcome! I hope you will enjoy the links! Yoga is so good for body and soul, it’s almost like the soul is purring afterwards 🙂
I’ve done t’ai chi in small groups for a number of years and elementary yoga many years ago. I would like to get back to it without going to classes so I’ll check out your links. Thank you (and to Paula for introducing me) Love your photo too. 🙂
I also have been thinking of self-hosting but am not very confident of it. I’ll be interested to know how it goes.
Thank you for visiting – I hope you will enjoy the links as much as I do 🙂
I always wanted to try t’ai chi!
yes I am excited about the self-hosting and I feel very brave, I must admit – hope it goes smooth!
I love yoga too! It helps me with my chronic pain, I am more lean then before & have more energy! Yeah!
I love that it helps you with chronic pain and I can imagine that it would ! I would love to learn more about that – I have a friend who suffers from terrible chronic pain……
It’s wonderful to hear it helps you 🙂
Yes, but only a bit! 😉 x
Yes chronic pain is a hard one – but at least it helps a bit 🙂
I have missed my yoga for the last 3 weeks because life has been so hectic but tomorrow morning I am packed and ready! I do a class called Body Balance which is a mix of yoga/pilates/tai chi. Soooooo freaking good for the soul!
Wow Cass that sounds like the perfect mix! – I can just imagine how that must be freaking good for the soul 🙂
Do you ever do the online classes?
I just bought the app All In Yoga and it is so good. I loooove it. I have been doing it every day. I can go from a complete stress ball to a well rounded human within 30 min!
