Green smoothie with apple and fresh thyme

There is something about mixing fruits and herbs – Apple & Thyme – Strawberry & Basil – Peaches & Rosemary – it creates such wonderful flavor combinations. Here, while the autumn rain is pouring down outside my window, I still recall the Strawberry/ Lime/ Basil popsicles we made this summer.

Today’s delicious green smoothie is made with apples and thyme and it is scrumptious!

Apart from adding gorgeous flavors to the food we prepare, herbs are full of goodness too, packed with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, adding both intense flavors and a boost of nutrition to the food.

Greens smoothies have become one of those things I cannot live without – if I go away, I need to stock up, pouring green smoothies into thermos or … sometimes, I evenΒ  bring my blender with us and buy the greens as I go, set up a smoothie bar in the hotel and produce these healthy, delicious green drinks, where-ever we go. It is THE best thing I have ever added to my health ritual, no doubt about it.Β  Green smoothies simply works wonders for your health. At the same time they are so easy to make and delicious to drink!

Green smoothie with fresh thyme and apples

A good bunch of kale

2-3 apples

big bunch of grapes

2 frozen bananas

3-4 twigs of fresh thyme

water

Blend in to a smooth and delicious drink.

Very ripe bananas taste more intense and they work perfect as ice in the smoothie, so when we have over-ripe bananas, I put them in the freezer and use them to cool and flavor the smoothies.

      • Yes, it’s all gone, because the plums keep releasing their beautiful juices, it’s one that needs to be eaten up within a couple of days so it doesn’t get soggy πŸ˜‰ Hope you enjoy it! xoxo
